HISTORY
Exhibitions near Kazan Kremlin walls are mentioned even in Arabic chronicles of the end of XII century. Convenient geographical location of the region used to attract merchants of Volga, Caucasus, Middle Asia, the Crimea, Iran regions and provided the profitable participation in the goods transit between the countries of East, West Europe and Russia. Kazan fair along with Nizhny Novgorod and Irbit fairs served as trade centers of Russia for a long time.
Till the last century during 600 years near Kremlin walls there existed Tash Ayak fair, a brisk trade at Kazanka river mouth, a bazaar on Arsk field was held.
In soviet time the place of fairs is occupied by ENEA (VDNKh) — the exhibitions of national economy achievements.
On 14 of October 1956 an official opening ceremony of the Republican industrial and agricultural exhibition under the Council of Ministries of TASSR was held in Kazan (ENEA TASSR) where the achievements of planned socialism were demonstrated.
The unique architectural ensemble of the complex, built during short time on a waste land, charmed with strict simplicity of its pavilions and buildings; greenery, radio and telecommunications network installation, water supply works were made.
On the territory of ENEA during many years up to 1990 the Bread products, Food industry, Consumer service, Science, TASSR industry, National education pavilions etc. had been working.
In 1991 ENEA TASSR was reorganized into VICO Exhibition and Informational Commercial Enterprise,and in 1992 the 1st international Oil.Gas exhibition was held.
In 1993 enters the International Union of Exhibitions and Fairs of CIS and Baltic States, that included more than 40 largest exhibition centres of USSR. |
